Lufthansa Technik has signed a long-term component support agreement with Air Philippines Corporation, operating as PAL Express, covering the airline’s entire Airbus A320 fleet.

The contract includes access to Lufthansa Technik’s global pool of components, as well as a dedicated homebase stock at PAL Express’ facilities in the Philippines. The support package also covers MRO services for a wide range of aircraft components.

Rabbi Vincent Ang, president of PAL Express, said: “We are confident that Lufthansa Technik’s comprehensive component support system will help us maintain operational excellence as we continue to grow and serve our passengers.

“The availability of spare parts at our Manila base, backed by access to Lufthansa Technik’s vast pool facilities in Hong Kong, Singapore, Hamburg and Frankfurt, ensures that aircraft are serviced promptly and kept flying.”

PAL Express serves as the domestic and regional arm of Philippine Airlines, operating short-haul international and domestic routes across the archipelago. The new agreement builds on the longstanding relationship between Lufthansa Technik and the Philippine Airlines Group.

Just days before the A320 component deal was finalised, PAL Express also signed a separate MRO agreement with Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey for support of PW150 engines used on the airline’s De Havilland Canada Dash 8 fleet.

Jens Michel, vice president corporate sales North East Asia at Lufthansa Technik, said: “We are delighted that PAL Express is strengthening its commitment to Lufthansa Technik by choosing us once again – this time to provide component support for their A320s. As PAL Express continues to grow and expand its operations, we are excited to contribute to their success and further enhance our partnership.”
