Swiss reveals new seats and cabin concept

Previously unseen First and Business Class suites have been put on display at Zurich Airport by Swiss International Airlines.

The new seats will come into service together with the company’s brand-new Airbus A350-900s from this autumn onwards. A cabin concept known as ‘Swiss Senses’ promises guests in all seating classes a more personal and comfortable air travel experience. The airline says that the new concept represents the biggest product investment in the company’s history.

The Senses concept a new colour scheme, with claret, anthracite and beige to convey a sense of cosiness and comfort. The First cabin and parts of Business also feature the airline’s first use of suite seating arrangements.

SWISS Senses First Class suite

The airline expects to take delivery of the first of its new Airbus A350-900s this October. The first intercontinental services with the brand-new long-haul twinjet will be to Boston, and will begin this winter.

“I am delighted that, with the arrival of our new Airbus A350s, we will be able to offer our customers an even more personal, exclusive and individual air travel experience,” said SwissChief Commercial Officer Heike Birlenbach at today’s presentation event, which was held in the Operation Center at Zurich Airport.

“As a premium airline, we aim to continue to deliver on our quality promise through our SWISS Senses concept,” Birlenbach continued. “Our new seats are the centrepiece of our new aircraft cabins. But SWISS Senses appeals to all the senses – with its special lighting concept, for instance, and also with our new scent that has been specially created for SWISS. All in all, SWISS Senses represents the biggest product investment in the history of our company – and a further major milestone for Swiss aviation.”
