Aviation Action teams up with EASA for 2024 Run the Runways mental health fundraiser

Mental health support charity Aviation Action is teaming up with regulator EASA for this year’s Run the Runways fundraiser.

Run the Runways will take place in May to coincide with Mental Health Awareness Week and the charity’s anniversary.

The 2024 campaign, in partnership with EASA, will see participants given the chance to virtually take on runways from the body’s member states.

Money raised by Aviation Action is invested into its support network for industry and support mechanisms, events and material.

Funds raised during Run the Runways will help Aviation Action further develop its app in support of those within the Aviation and Aerospace community struggling with mental wellbeing by providing them with a tool to help take steps to make positive changes.

The funds raised will also help Aviation Action provide training and support for five aviation industry peer supporters.

John Franklin MBE, head of safety promotion at EASA, said: “we are pleased to support this year’s Run the Runways to help raise awareness of mental health for aviation staff and we encourage organisations and their staff across Europe to get involved in this great initiative.”

Martin Jarvis, chairman of Aviation Action, added: “We have a genuine desire to continue to make a difference to people in the aviation community and have always been overwhelmed by the success of Run the Runways and the ability of such an event to bring the aviation community together towards a common goal.

“We are particularly excited to be virtually spreading our wings this year thanks to the support of EASA and look forward to seeing our iconic running shirts via social media across Europe.
