Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has received EASA and FAA certification to perform QT level maintenance for CFM LEAP-1A series engines.

The company is also in the final stages of extending this certification to LEAP-1B engines.

IAI says the certification opens a new channel of business for its engine MRO services, which also includes engine MRO for the existing list of capabilities such as CFM56-3/5/7, V2500 and PW4000 engine overhaul.

IAI says that by entering the LEAP engines MRO market it will reach a wider range of global customers, offering them new state-of-the-art capabilities based on the company’s experience and cutting-edge infrastructure, accumulated over the last five decades.

Shmuel Kuzi, vice president and general manager of IAI’s Aviation Group, said: “We are expanding our portfolio of solutions we offer our customers in the MRO sector as part of our long-term strategy, which sees this sector as a key growth driver alongside our additional activities such as freighter conversion.

“Our MRO division’s entry into LEAP engines is a significant milestone in realising this vision, and we look forward to further milestones expected shortly.”

Ido Ben Cnaan, vice president and general manager of the MRO division at IAI Aviation Group, said: “IAI’s MRO division has been providing the highest level of engine MRO services for over five decades and we are currently undergoing a period of growth and expansion in order to provide our unparalleled MRO services to as many customers as possible.

“Obtaining EASA and FAA certification for QT level maintenance of CFM LEAP-1A engine series represents a significant step in this process, and we are proud and grateful for this achievement.

“We will also reach the full overhaul capability for LEAP engines next year. Additionally, we are working on expanding and upgrading our engine MRO facility to increase capacity and slot availability.

“These are key steps that are an essential component of our ongoing strategic preparations to meet the continually growing market demand for IAI’s Aviation Group MRO services.”
