Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), a SATS company, has opened a fourth warehouse facility at Copenhagen Airport (CPH), reinforcing its growing focus on e-commerce and freight forwarder handling in the Scandinavian region.
The new 4,800 sqm building is dedicated to WFS’ specialised E-Commerce & Freight Forwarder Handling (EFFH) product, and takes the company’s total cargo handling footprint at the Danish hub to over 21,500 sqm. This includes its temperature-controlled pharmaceutical facility, enabling WFS to deliver a broader range of value-added services for import and export cargo passing through Copenhagen.
Inge Briand de Crevecoeur, managing director Copenhagen at WFS, said: “This is the latest expansion of our presence at Copenhagen Airport to support its growing cargo volumes and thriving freight forwarding community. We know from WFS’ experience at other major cargo gateways that forwarders are increasingly seeing value in outsourcing more of the physical handling aspects of their business to trusted partners like WFS.”
The expanded EFFH operation in Copenhagen offers freight forwarders a full suite of logistics services including making freight Ready-for-Carriage, weight and dimension capture, security screening, consolidation, and ground transport. It also includes deconsolidation, customs preparation, road delivery, shipment relabelling, repacking, crating, and bespoke screening services.
WFS says its e-commerce offering can reduce overall transit time by up to one day for international parcels bound for Scandinavian consumers, through rapid import sorting and scanning to speed up customs clearance.
Marc Claesen, senior vice president for Northern Europe and Africa at WFS, said: “Our expansion in Copenhagen aligns perfectly with our strategy to grow our e-commerce and freight forwarder handling product across our network. We are diversifying our services in an increasingly challenging environment, where speed of handling and real-time information sharing are critical.”
Copenhagen now joins WFS’ expanding network of EFFH hubs across Europe, including locations in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, and Sweden.
