Avianca Cargo secures CEIV Lithium Batteries recertification

Colombian freight carrier Avianca Cargo has earned CEIV Lithium Batteries recertification from IATA, strengthening its position as a leader in safe and high-quality handling of sensitive cargo.

Colombian freight carrier Avianca Cargo has earned CEIV Lithium Batteries recertification from IATA, strengthening its position as a leader in safe and high-quality handling of sensitive cargo.

The announcement was made during the recent CNS Partnership Conference in Miami, a key gathering of global air cargo industry leaders.

This latest achievement highlights Avianca Cargo’s ongoing commitment to operational excellence and strict adherence to international standards.

As global demand rises for electric vehicles, smartphones, and high-tech devices, the need for robust, specialised logistics solutions for lithium battery shipments continues to grow.

In 2023, Avianca Cargo was the first cargo airline in the Americas to achieve all four CEIV certifications from IATA – covering lithium batteries, pharmaceuticals, perishables, and live animals – demonstrating its dedication to meeting the evolving needs of the logistics market.

Diogo Elias, chief executive of Avianca Cargo, said: “Transformation is an ongoing journey, and each milestone reinforces our commitment to excellence. When we first pursued CEIV certification, we recognised its importance in aligning with the evolving needs of our customers.

“Now, as we achieve recertification, we reaffirm that these standards are more than just an achievement. They represent a continuous strategic commitment, delivering lasting benefits to our clients.”
